About The Retreat
Inclusive means you only bring yourself, the enthusiasm to learn and smile each day. Everything you need is provided for you. We want you to have the best experience possible and we do everything to make this time with us a weekend to remember. For the past 9 years our attendees have enjoyed this retreat with friends, old and new and they are so excited for the camaraderie.
Each registrant will enjoy the following: A new class each day with a different educator giving each attendee the opportunity to experience three classes and multiple techniques with Susan Edmonson, Elisa Milano and Tracey Simms and Urban Zundt. All four educators will share their unique style of teaching. During the retreat you will create while mastering the following techniques, Mixed Media with Susan, It's not just a serger anymore with Elisa, Machine Embroidery and beyond with Tracey and Urban. BERNINA sewing machines one per student will be provided for you to use in class. These machines will be brand new in the box and will be available for purchase after the retreat at unbelievably discounted prices. If you think you may be interested in a class machine please contact the shop 954-987--8827. You can reserve one prior to the retreat or pass this savings along to a friend not attending the retreat.
On Sunday evening following class you will sit back, relax and be inspired with Something New this year.
You will observe demonstrations throughout the retreat, these will be set up at shop and the retreat store. You will be able to shop at Once Upon A Quilt and in our exclusive retreat store where you will receive discounts on selected items. We will provide coffee and pastries/bagels each morning and delicious catered lunch each day as well as chocolate throughout the day. In addition to all of the above we will have lots of fabulous door prizes during this 3 day retreat.
Class projects: ANTICIPATION!!! Our class projects are always a closely guarded secret until the event. We want you to be surprised and excited the first day. Our projects are specially created for our retreat using the above-mentioned techniques with direct input by our teachers. Three beautiful kits are created by our staff with approval from our teachers. All kits are provided to our attendees at no charge. This is all part of our inclusive registration fee.
When: Saturday December 2nd, 9:00 am - 4:00pm, Sunday December 3rd, 9:00am - 4:00pm and Monday December 4th, 9:00am - 4:00pm.
Something New will be held at 4:45 Sunday afternoon following class.
* Event to be held in two locations 1 mile apart: You will enjoy class one day at Once Upon A Quilt in our classroom/event center and two days at the Courtyard Marriott's ballrooms.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Once Upon A Quilt makes every effort to bring you the ultimate retreat weekend. We supply our retreat attendees with the use of BERNINA sewing machines, class supplies and kits, morning coffee and pastry, catered lunch and snacks, door prizes and surprises. Because of this preparation and all additional work to make this retreat happen months in advance, we cannot accept cancellations after October 3rd, 2023 No exceptions! Registrations are transferrable to another person with the approval of OUAQ. Please contact OUAQ for details. Prior registrations are required to attend this retreat and OUAQ will not be able to accommodate any attendee not listed on the OUAQ registration list the day the retreat begins.

Meet the Teachers
Susan Edmonson
Fiber arts are my passion. I majored in art at Queens University in Charlotte, NC, and have not slowed down since. I have been a quilt designer, hosted art retreats, traveled to shops all over the country to teach, and am a Bernina Ambassador. I love sharing this passion I have for quilting, stitching and creating with everyone.
Elisa Milano
Sewing is my passion and has been since I was 6 years old and received my first sewing machine. I was taught by my mother and grandmother who were exceptional seamstresses and worked in garment factories. Through the years I have developed my skills and my own approach to sewing that is intuitive, efficient and nets great results. While I specialize in garment fitting and construction, I love all things related to sewing. Sharing my passion and knowledge with others is a great joy for me especially when my students excel and find their own success.

Urban Zundt and Tracey Sims
Urban and Tracey join forces with vastly different but complimentary creative talents. Together, they cover all aspects of embroidery design, projects, patterns, and education. “We believed our combined talents create a new and unique product within the industry,” says Tracey.
Like any artist, there is a creative process to what they do, including developing an idea, then the technical work – converting the ideas into drawings. For Urban, it is designing and digitizing to create the unique embroidery designs. Tracey then uses these designs to create unique and interesting projects and written instructional patterns and books.
